IVM FALL FEATURE - CUPPING

Cupping

WHAT IS CUPPING?

Using negative pressure instead of deep compression, cupping is the combination of massage movements with the use of a suction device on the skin. A cup is positioned at the area to be treated and a vacuum is created within the cup to decompress the underlying tissue, increasing blood and lymphatic circulation systemically and to the local area, relaxing muscles and connective tissue and drawing stagnation, pathogenic elements and toxins out of the body - releasing a myriad of pain causing factors.

TMJ & Headaches

Smaller glass cups designed specifically for the face are strategically used to treat TMJ and tension from headaches, jaw clenching, and teeth grinding. These cups DO NOT LEAVE MARKS and are never left on the face. It is a suction and release technique, highly effective and surprisingly relaxing. Includes a wonderful head and neck massage.

Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder refers to shoulder pain that leads to restricted range of motion. It is a catch-all diagnosis for shoulder pain and immobility for which the underlying cause is unknown. A variety of silicone cups are used on muscles and attachments around the shoulder blades. Side-lying positions and assisted stretching are utilized in this session.

Sciatica

The symptoms of sciatica generally result from compression of the sciatic nerve, which sends pain through the pelvis, down the leg, and often causing low pain. Larger silicone cups are used to target the piriformis (gluteal region) and hamstrings (back of the thigh).

Back pain

A variety of cups with varying levels of suction are used over the entire back.
